September 2016 – She Will Move Mountains

Baby Zora, this is my latest pastel piece. Check out how I managed to capture the softness and texture of her hair. That is perhaps my favorite part of this painting. I keep looking at each individual coil wanting to twirl it gently between my finger tips.

When it came to framing this piece, we narrowed down the selection to the four pieces shown below. When posted to my facebook page, it seemed that there was a strong preference for the upper left and right together with the blue on the lower right.

My final decision…the upper left. I chose the darker frame because it doesn’t compete with the artwork. It draws little attention while accentuating the colour scheme of the piece. What do you think? I’m pretty happy with this one. Hopefully I can enjoy it for a while before it finds a new home.

There’s a quote that I love quite a bit… “Let her sleep, for when she wakes, she will move mountains“…. And indeed Baby Zora has a beautiful life ahead with a world full of opportunities…and one day indeed… she will move mountains.
