Despite the ocean view being an everyday occurrence, I’m forever captivated by the beauty and power it exudes. That captivation recently led me to produce a small wave series.
I spent many days in my younger years simply floating on the water’s surface, eyes fixed on the movement of the clouds above. Time always felt as though it came to a standstill in the gentle ebb and flow.
There were also days that I’d spend more time in the surf, riding the unpredictable waves which from time to time would remind me they were in full control despite my intentions.
The mystery and therapeutic properties of the ocean still fascinate me today. I’m content to watch how the shape and size of the waves change upon their approach, and how they crash up onto the shore as they create and destroy simultaneously.
Perhaps that action of both creating and destroying simultaneously is what reminds us that the ocean is alive, and why we ourselves feel so rejuvenated and nourished whenever her salty hugs surround us.
